Duhalde Argentina's repentant Frankenstein

“I never thought it would come to this: the addiction to power and money of the Kirchners is something which has never been seen before." This from a man who was number two to former President Carlos Menem (1989-1999) for two years. Argentina's former president Eduardo Duhalde (2002-2003) said this week that he regretted his decision to back Néstor Kirchner for the presidency in 2003. He excused himself for creating a monster on the grounds that at the time Kirchner was the only new thing in the Partido Justicialista (PJ) and the people were crying out for novelty. Duhalde's ferocious attack is part of his effort to ready the ground for a tilt at the presidency in October 2011.
